Michael Maravich

Michael Maravich received his Doctor of
Pharmacy degree from the honorable University
of California, San Francisco. While Maravich
was there, again he wasn't just ordinary.
While in his 4th year of clerkships, he
wanted to establish an asthma clinic in
a retail pharmacy. He would educate patients
on the use of their medicines by appointment.
There would be a lot of opposition from
other pharmacists, but Maravich did it
anyway.
Dr. Mary Anne Koda-Kimble, now Dean of
the school of pharmacy, wrote an article
about Dr. Maravich that was published
in the American Journal of Pharmaceutical
Education, titled "Preparing Graduates
for Uncertain Futures: Lessons from a
Student.
Dr. Koda-Kimble met Maravich at a luncheon
where he was presenting a video presentation
that he co-produced with the local television
station about how technological advances
have affected pharmacy. This segment aired
on KXTV's show, PULSE, is a medical information
program.
|
Dr. Maravich came to pharmacy after spending
over 10 years in television production. He
has produced, directed, photographed numerous
television programs. While teaching at a local
community access station, he directed a television
program titled, "Black American Music" which
highlighted the Sacramento Camellia Symphony
orchestra. The program was showcased by the
local community cable foundation and aired
multiple times on television. While at KXTV
Channel 10, Maravich produced and directed
"Crime Watch", a program focusing on crime
prevention.
A colleague of Maravichs', once said that
he was the only pharmacist in the country
that had this unique combination of pharmacy
knowledge and television production experience
that would benefit him someday. That day has
come. Merging two successful careers, Dr.
Maravich has created PharmClips. PharmClips
uses the latest in media technology and computers
to deliver a human approach to drug education.
